This Grade 1 listed building represents at least eight centuries of Christian worship in Corby Glen. The oldest part of the building dates from the 12th century, with significant extensions having been added in the 14th and 15th centuries. The internationally renowned medieval wall paintings also date from the 14th and 15th centuries.
There are several fragments of medieval glass, the largest representing St John the Evangelist. The sanctuary is dominated by a Victorian stained glass window depicting Jesus welcoming the children. This is a memorial to the children of a 19th century vicar, following their deaths in infancy.
St John’s church and churchyard are open every day from around 9am to 4.30pm for visitors and prayer. Spend a time of quiet reflection; light a candle in prayer and remembrance.
