If you're looking for somewhere to spend a short break or weekend away, the district of South Kesteven has a whole host of things to see and do for all the family. Situated in South Lincolnshire, just off the A1 and only 38 miles east of Nottingham and 66 miles north of Cambridge, a trip to South Kesteven is a great way to explore the East Midlands and East coast of England.

South Kesteven's four market towns, Stamford, Grantham, Market Deeping and Bourne are all steeped in history and each gives their own stamp on the district. Let's take a closer look at what they have to offer:

Grantham

As the hometown of former Prime Minister Baroness Margaret Thatcher and scientific revolutionary Sir Isaac Newton, the picturesque market town of Grantham is an epicentre of historical significance. Take a tour of Belvoir Castle and enjoy the natural beauty of Belton House and Park for an unforgettable trip.

Stamford

Stamford is the home of stunning Georgian architecture and a great range of historic attractions, earning the title 'Britain's top place to live' by the Sunday Times in 2019. From tranquil country walks down the River Welland to a wander down the bustling high street, there are all kinds of great things to do in Stamford.

Market Deeping

If you're considering taking a trip to Market Deeping, be sure to take a walk down Georgian Church Street and visit St Guthlac’s church, built in the 13th century by none other than Margaret Beaufort, the mother of Henry VII. There are a number of cosy inns and restaurants in the town, but if you're wanting to get away from it all, a visit to the gorgeous Deepings Lakes nature reserve is a must.

Bourne

The Anglo Saxon town of Bourne is unique in that it was constructed surrounding a series of natural springs, now known as the Wellhead Gardens. The town has intriguing shops and great eateries. Don’t miss the majesty of nearby Grimsthorpe Castle and its acres of stunning grounds. Why not hire a bike there and explore its lakeside cycle trails?

South Kesteven has so much to offer that you’ll be spoilt for choice. With historic beauty and fun events taking place across the district year-round, a short break in the heart of the East Midlands could be exactly what you need.
