Sep 16, 2019 | Blog, News

Between 26 and 29 September, the Stamford Georgian Festival offers a fascinating insight into this beautiful and unspoilt stone town’s history through performances and some unforgettable events.

This year, the focus is on the Age of Wonder and Invention, with many events free.

If you're visiting South Lincolnshire in early autumn,  make a note of the date to enjoy an amazing programme of heritage and entertainment in one fun weekend!

What is there to do at the Stamford Georgian Festival?

Visit Stamford UK to learn about the pioneering balloon flight from the gas works in 1825. Discover amazing details about the performance of Sarah Siddons at Stamford Theatre in 1779.

Celebrate Georgian art and architecture by attending fascinating talks and an extensive calendar of events running over four days.

Browse street markets for unique shopping in Stamford, experience the spectacle of the costumed ball, or the Sunday promenade which is new to the festival this year.

On Saturday evening, a free town centre street spectacular takes off with outdoor arts, music and street performers. Soak up the atmosphere and join in the celebrations.

Events on the calendar include an organ recital at Burghley House, tours of Browne's Hospital, a Georgian costume workshop, a walking tour of Stamford and family music workshops. You can also enjoy a tethered balloon ride, highwaymen and period traders on The Meadows, a beautiful Georgian picnic or a carriage ride.
