SUMMARY:Unversed...
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for drinks in the Gallery Bar for 1 hour after the show! \nUnversed … An eager young actor in the city of London has got her hands on a discarded copy of Shakespeare’s first folio. Newly printed and the hottest publication in town\, all the plays exist together for the very first time. There’s only one problem: the parts are all too out of reach for women to play on the public stage. Come along and be part of the rehearsal as Antonia gives herself permission to speak the verse and explore the profession of being a woman – both onstage and off. \nUNVERSED was commissioned and created for the 400TH anniversary of Shakespeare’s First Folio for Keats House in Hampstead where it premiered to great reviews and has since toured to Doctor Johnson’s House in Fleet Street\, John Clare Cottage and The Painted Room in Oxford and will go to Stratford in 2025. \nPraise for ‘Unversed’ … \n“Marvellous concept with incredible characters – a treat for any Shakespeare fan.” \n“Just been to Unversed: what a brilliant\, passionate\, intimate and thoughtful exploration of Shakespeare’s well versed ladies. From Desdemona to Lady Macbeth\, I thought Beckis was utterly captivating.” \n“Brilliant! I loved every minute of it! What a joy it was tonight – to hear Shakespeare acted so truthfully and with such beautiful expression.” \n“Superb acting and wonderfully interactive with the audience.” \n“An outstanding performance from an outstanding actor.” \nImportant Information \nVenue: Stamford Arts Centre\, Theatre \nTickets: £16.50 (£15 concessions) \nPlease join us for drinks in the Gallery Bar for 1 hour after the show! \nClick here to learn more about the show.

SUMMARY:Hejira - Celebrating Joni Mitchell
DESCRIPTION:‘Hejira’ is a 7-piece band set up to celebrate and honour the masterpiece works of Joni Mitchell\, mostly from the late ‘70s. Having released the albums ‘The Hissing of Summer Lawns’\, ‘Hejira’\, ‘Don Juan’s Reckless Daughter’ and ‘Mingus’ (regarded as her ‘jazz period’)\, Joni then toured briefly with a band formed from the crème de la crème of contemporaneous jazz musicians (Metheny\, Mays\, Brecker\, Pastorius and Alias). The tour was recorded\, producing the outstanding live album\, ‘Shadows And Light’; it is from this album that the band Hejira is drawing the body of its repertoire. Comprising highly experienced jazz musicians\, this band is fronted by the brilliant Hattie Whitehead who not only has – in her own way – assimilated the poise\, power and beauty of Joni’s vocals\, but also plays guitar with Joni’s stylistic mannerisms. Expect an evening of the ‘great’ songs from Mitchell’s back catalogue\, such as ‘Amelia’\, ‘Woodstock’\, ‘A Case Of You’\, ’Song For Sharon’\, ‘Edith And The Kingpin’ etc.! \nHattie Whitehead ~ vocals & guitar \nOllie Weston ~ tenor & soprano saxophones \nChris Eldred ~ keyboards \nPete Oxley ~ guitar \nDave Jones ~ bass \nRick Finlay ~ drums \nMarc Cecil ~ percussion \nImportant Information \nVenue: Stamford Arts Centre\, Ballroom \nTickets: £20 (£18 concessions) \nRunning Time: 2 hours (including interval)

SUMMARY:Military Lives: Grimsthorpe and it’s Warrior Heroes
DESCRIPTION:“Military Lives: Grimsthorpe and it’s Warrior Heroes” \nOur Summer Exhibition this year looks at military lives associated with Grimsthorpe Castle. This overarching theme is presented through three distinct narrivates. \nThe Noble Soldier \nIn the early 17th century\, Grimsthorpe was home to Robert Bertie\, 1st Earl of Lindsey and 13th Lord Willoughby de Eresby. Born in the Elizabethan golden age of Chivalry\, Robert was defined by her career as an elite military commander at a period of intense warfare in Europe and the stirrings of civil war in England. \nWe explore Robert’s life through a series of objects and images. Highlights include an exceptionally rare silk doublet and trunkhose\, Elizabethan armour\, early military handbooks\, and a very personal letter from Charles I to Robert’s son\, Montagu. \nArnhem 80: Lest We Forget \nTo commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Arnhem\, we look at the lives of soldiers of 1st Battalion Parachute Regiment\, whose headquarters were at Grimsthorpe Castle in 1942. Grimsthorpe and Bourne became the centre of a major airborne assault on mainland Europe in the darkest days of the Second World War. \nThrough a small memorial exhibition in the Chapel\, we pay our respects to the soldiers who briefly called Grimsthorpe home. Visitors can find out more about two of the men based here\, and see some of the surprising items we have found hidden behind the walls. \nThe Household Cavalry Regiment \nGrimsthorpe has a long association with the Household Cavalry Regiment\, which has traditionally acted as the monarch’s personal bodyguard. Twelve contemporary photographic portraits of members of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment by the renowned artist\, Ripley\, will be displayed in the Vanbrugh Hall. \nThese portraits have recently been displayed at Blenheim Palace\, Apsley House\, Floors Castle and various other exceptional locations around Britain. A set of these images was presented to King Charles III by the Regiment in 2023 to mark His Majesty’s coronation. \nIncluded in your Castle\, Park & Gardens ticket\, which you can book online in advance or on arrival at the Ticket Hut.

SUMMARY:13 the Musical - Grantham Youth Theatre
DESCRIPTION:A hilarious\, coming-of-age musical about discovering that “cool” is sometimes where we least expect it. Geek. Poser. Jock. Beauty Queen. Wannabe. These are the labels that can last a lifetime. With an unforgettable rock score from Tony Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown\, (Parade\, The Last Five Years\, Bridges Of Madison County) 13 is a musical about fitting in – and standing out! \nEvan Goldman is plucked from his fast paced\, preteen New York City life and plopped into a sleepy Indiana town following his parents divorce. Surrounded by an array of simple minded middle school students\, he needs to establish his place in the popularity pecking order. Can he situate himself on a comfortable link of the food chain or will he dangle at the end with the outcasts?!
