A Social Cycle Ride to Wymondham Windmill

Grantham Meres Leisure Centre Trent Road, Grantham, United Kingdom

Your qualified British Cycling Ride leaders will meet you at Grantham Meres Leisure Centre and guide you at a safe and leisurely pace. The ride starts with a descent out of Barrowby down to the Vale of Belvoir. We will then wind our way through some delightful villages climbing up the escarpment of the Leicestershire Worlds at Croxton Kerrial before making our way to the Tea Rooms at the 19th Century windmill above Wymondham. After lunch we will make our way back across the Wolds followed by a descent to Harlaxton and the short climb back up to Barrowby before returning to Grantham Meres Leisure Centre. Your leaders are fully trained and qualified through British Cycling, and above all friendly. They will take all reasonable steps to ensure your, and the public's safety and we never leave anyone behind. Now to the cost of all this. The great news is that it is totally free of charge, apart from refreshments, which are optional. All riders must be registered and wear a suitable cycling helmet. Reconnecting Grantham Guides

Led by experienced ride leaders, these rides are a great way to explore new places and to meet new people who enjoy cycling. Book a series of dates in July and August on the website. Cycle from Wyndham Park, through Queen Elizabeth Park, Londonthorpe Woods and on to Belton Estate. Qualified British Cycling Ride Leaders will meet you in Wyndham Park and guide you at a safe and leisurely pace through Queen Elizabeth Park, through Sunningdale and onto the new cycle/footpath up to Londonthorpe Woods. After a short break to introduce this beautiful woodland amenity, you will make your way along 5 Gates Lane and on to the Belton Estate. Here you will stop for refreshments and be treated to a short talk about the estate. Once rested, you will continue through the parkland and retrace your path back to Wyndham Park. Your leaders are fully trained and qualified through British Cycling, and above all friendly. They will take all reasonable steps to ensure your, and the public's, safety especially on road sections and we never leave anyone behind. Jazz in the Gardens

Enjoy a toe-tapping afternoon of jazz in Burghley's beautiful gardens. Spend a summer's afternoon in Burghley's Sculpture Garden listening to the swinging sounds of local Dixieland jazz group, the Stamford Stompers. Bring the whole family along, roll out a blanket and soak up the sublime atmosphere. With a soundtrack that will have everyone bopping along - even the littlest of dancers won't be able to resist joining in! Listen to the Stompers as they perform a wonderfully wide repertoire of classic New Orleans jazz with instruments that include a banjo, string bass, clarinet, trumpet, and guitar. During your visit take in the beauty of the Gardens in full summer bloom or let the little ones run wild in Hide & Secrets Adventure Play. The Gardens and Adventure Play are open from 10am to 5pm with the Stamford Stompers performing from 12 noon to 4pm.
