More to see and do in Stamford

The Garden House

The Garden House is just a few minutes stroll from the centre of historic Stamford. The house offers free Wifi, 19 ensuite rooms and beautiful walled gardens. It can be offered for groups of 16-38 people on an exclusive, self-catering basis – or our chef can provide meals if required. We also hire out The Coach House, set within our grounds, which can accommodate up to 6 people and has its own kitchen, lounge, dining area and bathroom. Both properties have free parking.

Magnolia House

A warm welcome awaits you at Magnolia House – a stylish B&B in a quiet location within walking distance of Stamford centre. Enjoy a restful night’s sleep in our comfortable and elegantly furnished en-suite double or twin room. A delicious breakfast awaits you, then relax in our private garden. With its narrow alleyways and hidden courtyards that are home to speciality shops, fine jewellers and much more, it’s easy to see why Stamford was named as ‘the best place to live and stay in the UK’ by The Sunday Times.

Frothy’s Coffee Shop

Frothys Coffee Shop is a family run business and one of Stamford’s main meeting places. We pride ourselves on our welcoming and friendly customer service, excellent drinks, light lunches and delicious cakes. All our food is freshly prepared and to order on the premises using quality, locally sourced produce whenever possible. There is plenty of space, a great map on the wall and a local artist’s picture of the market takes pride of place. Seating outside in the summer and a lovely roaring open fire in winter. Newspapers and magazines are on display for your perusal.

Browne’s Hospital & Museum

The Hospital or almshouse was founded by William Browne, a rich wool merchant of Stamford, and built in 1475. The Hospital or Bedehouse – a name by which it was also known – was established as a home and a house of prayer for 10 poor men and 2 poor women, with a Warden and a Confrater, both of whom were to be priests. The main rooms that can be visited are the Common Room, the Chapel, the Staircase, the Audit Room and the Confraters’ Room which contain original artefacts. The chapel retains important 15th century stained glass of national significance.

Café au Chocolat

Captivating the hearts of residents and visitors of Stamford is Café au Chocolat, the taste of continental France. This chic and cosy family-run café & creperie appeals to customers of all ages with its original offering of authentic French crepes, eye catching patisserie, fine artisan chocolates and speciality single origin coffees and organic hot chocolates! The staff are skilled in the original Breton art of making traditional crepes and use gluten free buckwheat flour to produce mouth-watering sweet and savoury crepes & galettes as customers look on. This is a Cafe with a difference and there is something for everyone at Cafe au Chocolat.
