By Air to Battle: South Kesteven’s Airborne Heritage

How much do you know about the military heritage of Fulbeck and surrounding villages in the build up to Operation Market Garden – Arnhem?

Air to Battle offers a chance to learn more about the thousands of young Airborne soldiers who lived and trained locally and flew from local airfields for D-Day, and to the Netherlands for Arnhem.

Judy Urquhart, daughter of Maj General Roy Urquhart, Commander of the British First Airborne Division, is making a special visit to Fulbeck where her father was billeted in the 1944 build up to Arnhem. She will be introducing the talk by military heritage specialist Brian Riley.

Brian’s talk offers a chance to learn more about the thousands of young Airborne soldiers who lived and trained locally and flew from local airfields for D-Day, and to the Netherlands for Arnhem.

The talk is part of events at Fulbeck Manor and Fulbeck Village Hall (15 -17 August) – including an archaeological dig.
