Led by experienced ride leaders, these rides are a great way to explore new places and to meet new people who enjoy cycling. Book a series of dates in July and August on the website. Cycle from Wyndham Park, through Queen Elizabeth Park, Londonthorpe Woods and on to Belton Estate. Qualified British Cycling Ride Leaders will meet you in Wyndham Park and guide you at a safe and leisurely pace through Queen Elizabeth Park, through Sunningdale and onto the new cycle/footpath up to Londonthorpe Woods. After a short break to introduce this beautiful woodland amenity, you will make your way along 5 Gates Lane and on to the Belton Estate. Here you will stop for refreshments and be treated to a short talk about the estate. Once rested, you will continue through the parkland and retrace your path back to Wyndham Park. Your leaders are fully trained and qualified through British Cycling, and above all friendly. They will take all reasonable steps to ensure your, and the public's, safety especially on road sections and we never leave anyone behind. To mark the 80th Anniversary of Operation Market Garden, join this community organised cycle ride passing through various locations linked to the local military aviation heritage. This September marks the 80th Anniversary of Operation Market Garden, the audacious plan to shorten the war by seizing key bridges in the Netherlands by an airborne operation by the First Allied Airborne Army (Operation Market) in order to enable a rapid advance into the Netherlands by the British 2nd Army (Operation Garden). The British 1st Airborne Division, 1st Polish Independent Parachute Brigade and the 52nd Wing of the US IX Troop Carrier Command were based in and around the area and elements of the US 82nd Airborne Division (based in neighbouring Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire) flew to the Netherlands from local airfields. To commemorate the Anniversary there will be three challenging cycle rides, each focussing on one of 1st Airborne Division’s parachute brigades and their departure airfields of their parachute elements on the anniversary of their deployments.
