How Stamford Cycling Is Bringing People Together on Two Wheels

If you’re looking for a new way to explore the roads and countryside around South Kesteven – and meet some genuinely friendly faces along the way – then Stamford Cycling might be just what you’ve been looking for.

Stamford Cycling started in January last year in the simplest way possible. One person (Johnny), looking for a community and deciding to build it themselves. What began as a few rides posted on social media has grown organically into something much bigger – a Strava Verified Club with over 160 members, a thriving Instagram community and a dedicated website. No big launch, no budget, just a genuine belief that cycling is better when you do it together.

Rides for Everyone

The club runs regular weekly rides from Stamford, including the popular Fika Ride – a social paced group ride followed by a post ride coffee. And the Lightspeed Rollout for those who fancy pushing a little harder. There’s also a Sunday social and a Thursday midweek option, meaning there’s almost always something in the calendar no matter when you’re free to ride.

What makes Stamford Cycling stand out is its three founding principles: no membership fees – ever, no-drop rides so nobody gets left behind and no special kit required. You don’t need a carbon race bike or a matching club jersey to join in. You just need to show up.

More Than Miles

It’s not a racing club chasing podiums. It’s a community chasing good miles, good coffee, and good company. And that ethos has clearly resonated – almost everyone who joins says riding with the group becomes the highlight of their week.

The club has been particularly meaningful for people who are new to the area and looking for a way in, or those getting back on a bike after years away. Stamford is a small market town and building something genuinely rooted in the local community takes time and trust – but Stamford Cycling has earned both.

Get Involved

Whether you’re a confident cyclist or someone who hasn’t been on a bike in years, Stamford Cycling is open to everyone. You can find the club on Strava, follow along on Instagram, or visit the website to see upcoming rides and get a feel for the community before you join a ride.

Sometimes the best things in a community start with someone simply deciding to make them happen – and Stamford Cycling is a perfect example of that.

To find out more or to join an upcoming ride, visit the Stamford Cycling Club website or search for Stamford Cycling on Strava and Instagram.
