The Willoughby Memorial Trust Gallery is in the beautiful village of Corby Glen. During exhibitions the gallery is open from 12pm to 5pm. Admission is free. This is a hidden gem is South Kesteven and a must visit. The beautiful building was once a school and still contains a library!
The Willoughby Memorial Trust was founded in 1965 by the late Lord Ancaster in memory of his son, Timothy, Lord Willoughby de Eresby, who died in 1963.
The trustees have converted the late 17th century Read’s Grammar School in Corby Glen into a library and a small art gallery. The gallery holds a series of exhibitions from March to November and an annual open art competition.
There are two exhibitions on at the Willoughby Memorial Art Gallery currently, one by Simon Davies and the other by Karen Mann. Pop along to look at the interesting and unique art on display.
The gallery is only a five minutes’ drive away from the incredible Grimsthorpe Castle; therefore, you could visit both in one day, and what a lovely day that would be.
Also located within the village of Coby Glen, is the local church. The Church of St John the Evangelist is a grade one listed building and is dedicated to John the Evangelist. The building dates from the twelfth century and the building hosts the most amazing medieval wall paintings. Well worth a look if you are in the village!
